Carry the Web with you wherever you go with the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet
Here comes another spectacular offering from Nokia that will transfer you to the Web whenever you like! The Nokia 770 Internet Tablet measuring 141 by 17 by 19mm and weighing 230g, is an internet device that has been fashioned to help you surf the web any time of the day, just about anywhere.
Providing Internet access even when you are on the move, the Nokia 770 tablet will operate on the Linux-based Nokia Internet Tablet 2005 software edition and can connect you to the net by both Wi-Fi or through a Bluetooth mobile. This device is completely packed with myriad productivity applications as well as multimedia features comprising of the Web Browser, Internet Radio, Email Client, News Reader, Media players, Image viewer, File Manager, Search, Calculator, World Clock, PDF-viewer, Notes, Sketch, Games etc. A sharp high-resolution, 800x480, 65,536-colour touch screen is seen in Nokia 770, which sports an exquisite metal black and matte silver look. Therefore, the 770 does hold promise for an extremely pleasant Web journey with its large screen as compared to the considerably small screens found in smart phones.
However, while this internet tablet’s support of file formats like MP3, RealAudio, MP2, JPEG, MPEG1 add to its appeal, its omission of innate Microsoft file formats like WMA and WMV are big turn offs. In addition, with a plethora of sturdy and intelligent smart phones entering the mobile market, the feasibility of heaving an extra device like the Nokia 770 along, seems quite unlikely. But, it of course gives you an alternative for buying a second PC for your house!
It would also fare better if it provided little more than 64MB of DDR RAM as well as a tad more than 128MB of flash memory. Moreover, its RS-MMC, i.e. Reduced Size Multi MediaCard is restricted to a maximum limit of 256MB.

Good thinking Nokia!! Now Backpackers just need a mobile and they're off.
Cynics may call this a PDA with a bigger screen. But heck, why not give it a fair evaluation. On the negative side: the browser is a slower than you'd like. Then the MMC card does not allow you to install an apps. On the plus: you have the built-in Wi fi, the Opera browser, intuitive keyboard and aoto complete. Skip, the negatives, use it until Nokia launches 771.

wish the Multimedia card had > 256MB cap
I am impressed by the features , especially RealAudio, MP3 and MPEG. But the DDR's 64MB is a cramping limitation. Or is it that I cannot expect more for this price?

Great price, especially if you look at it as an alternative to a PC.
I'd say this gadget is worth the price tag. I'd been thinking of buying a laptop but then this Nokia 770 internet tablet has made me change my mind. It may not do all that a laptop does, but whatever I need to do, it does.
