Good phone; for the most part
I've had the VX8100 since July 12, and I'm fairly impressed. The audio quality is clear and the volume can be turned up loud enough for nearly any environment. The large stereo speakers work very well for speakerphone as well. In recent years many new features have been added to cell phones that make them more useful, but result in a sucky phone; not with this one. The LG VX8100 is a very good quality phone.
Of course, this phone implements Verizon's V-Cast service well. Clear sharp video on your cell phone is truely something to behold. The Mobile Web service, SMS, and Instant messaging with MSN, AIM, and Yahoo are also great; as well as 512MB of internal memory, color internal and external screens, very good (but not excellent) signal sensitivity, and the 1.3 Mpixel camera (works very well too).
However, there are some downsides. There is no MP3 music playback yet. You can rename MP3 files to MIDI files, load them onto a miniSD card, insert card into the phone, and play them that way, but some quality is lost. Verizon is soon to launch a new music service that will play MP3's, but must be downloaded over their network for a price. The Bluetooth feature is presently limited only to bluetooth headsets and some automobile's audio systems that feature bluetooth for hand free driving (this feature works quite well had is very handy). The bluetooth features for this phone cannot connect to any other device. You also cannot use this phone presently to connect to your computer in any way to load music, ringtones, or anything else through a cable or otherwise. Many of these capabilities are available or will be, through downloading over Verizon's Network for a fee.
So, it's a great phone, but some of its more popular capabilities are rather crippled at this time. It's rather sad that Verizon has been taking lessons from the computer printer industry in this regard. Printers are cheap but ink is expensive. This is a great phone that's relatively inexpensive considering its features, but Verizon will squeeze you for more to use them. Hopefully this will change as the complaints mount.

MSN and Yahoo Messenger make this gadget worth it.
I'm on the road most of the time and often nowhere near a cybercafe. Which is why I find this LG phone most handy. I'm constantly updated with my email and messages. Then the screen is also quite good. Is there a better one than this?

Absolutely amazing!
The most important for me in a phone is the sound quality. And I give full marks to LG VX8100 in this regard. I use the speakerphone quite often and am very happy that it is extremely useful. This is much better than all the previous LG models. The interface is very easy and I must admit that this is what I call a consumer friendly phone. The Vcast videos also deliver good quality. Thanks a ton LG for the Bluetooth feature. My only grievance is the size. But otherwise it has near perfect features.
