Samsung Digimax V700 has nothing much to offer
It is eye-catching, pocketable and reasonably low-priced. But unfortunately, the Samsung Digmax V700 is just another megapixel camera which but doesn’t have too many novel features to offer.
While the 3 X zoom lens and 35mm film-equivalent focal length of 38mm to 114 mm are nothing to rave about, what’s even more disappointing is its jaded range and aperture (f/2.8 at the wide end and f/5.1 at the telephoto). Large-scale snaps can be taken at the lens's wide angle from a distance of 1.6 inches.
A lens designed by the creators of some great magnifying loupes and lenses- Schneider Optics- has been used. Even so, the V700 is devoid of good picture quality with lack of consistent sharpness and blurring radiant art like fringing which can be seen at the edge of a flower’s photograph. If that’s not enough, even the basics are not captured effectively. In spite of an extremely narrow angle of view, straight lines look slanted to some extent. A minimum sensitivity setting of ISO 50 also doesn’t help in bringing the noise level down. Two adaptable white-balance settings, an efficient automatic exposure system, and concrete red-eye performance improve the follies to some extent.
But that’s not the end of the shortcomings. While being unable to process and take pictures simultaneously, the camera also suffers from lack of speed. Despite having a shutter lag of only 0.4 to 0.5 second, it takes up 2.7 seconds to take a snap after pressing the power button. The time used goes beyond 4 seconds for JPEG shots.
It’s not at all recommended to take action shots owing to its slowness and also does not capture low light objects in its full bloom. In the absence of a status LCD, many ordinary tasks like varying white balance and ISO sensitivity are obscured. It is however possible to take VGA-resolution, 30fps MPEG-4 movies from V700. But even they have fade in comparison to shots taken from rival camps like Casio Exilim EX-Z750.
Thumbs up to the visually attractive, sturdy appearance. Convenient enough to be carried in a jacket pocket, it sadly has too many drawbacks for one’s liking. Strongly recommend only for those who are looking for high resolution snaps but at an economical cost.

Awesome!!!
I have been using this camera for close to a month now and it has proved to be an excellent companion. Video quality is the best I have seen. You can shoot at 30 fps at the resolution of 640 x 320. You can’t get much better results frm a camera. Photos too look very, very nice even though I feel the clarity in some of the photos could have been superior. But otherwise, I wud say this is a gr8 camera will xcellent video shooting abilities.

Hey, why do u overlook the movie mode? It;s excellent.
In the movie mode u can capture excellent video clips @ 30 fps with image stabilisation. The clip duration may be short and limited to the card, but consider its quality. Then, I found the rest of its features certainly above average when compared with my friend's cameras. It may not be as good as a Sony or an Olympus, but I'm told the components of those are made by Samsung. So how fair, really, is any review about this camera from Samsung?

Not worth it at all
After using the Samsung Digimax V700 I would definitely ask people to refrain from purchasing it. It really hasn’t got anything special. The zoom lens is not good. The picture quality is really bad. In fact some of the pictures look out of shape. There is a lack of sharpness evident in most of the pictures. The speed is horrendous to stay the least. You will need a lot of patience to operate this. The only good thing about the camera is its attractive look and that it fits easily into your pocket.
